LULA – Allene Montgomery, 86, died Monday, April 6, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Born in Kentucky on November 3, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Carl Jack “C.J.” and Ottie Dimple Asberry White. She was a retired LPN with 40 years of dedicated service and was a member of the Hickory Flat United Methodist Church. Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin “J.C.” Montgomery; brothers, Carl White Jr. and William White; sisters, Esther Ford and Ruby Allen. She enjoyed several hobbies, including flowers, birds, reading and history, loved ones added.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Flora and Fred Wade and Susan and Larry Brown, all of Lula; son and daughter-in-law, Calvin and Maxie Montgomery, Lula; sisters, Marjorie Meeks, Grier, S.C., Martha Milam, Cleveland, and Maycel Chrisman, Lula; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 9, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Bradley Elliott officiating. Burial will be in the Hickory Flat United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, April 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
