Banks County will have three Lady Leopards competing in the girls’ state track meet May 14-16 at Hughes Mills Stadium in Albany.
Jessica Denton qualified in the discus during Saturday’s 8-AA region meet at East Jackson. Denton’s throw of 93’6” earned her the trip to the state meet.
Dee Dee Cannon made qualification as runner-up in the 100-meter with a 13.89 finish.
Maggie McCoy made the state cut as region champion in the 800m run with her personal best time of 2:36.78.
Leopard Track
This weekend Banks County sends two Leopards to the boys’ state track meet in Jefferson.
Lyn Hester and Jorge Diaz will represent Banks County at the Georgia Olympics, May 7-9.
Hester will compete Thursday in the shot put. The event is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
Diaz will compete Friday in the 3200m run. The event is scheduled for 6:25 p.m.
The Georgia Olympics start each day at noon, with trophy presentations on Saturday.
