Ron Gardiner will serve as chairman of the Banks County Board of Edcuation this year. In a 4-1 vote, the board approved Gardiner as chairman for 2010 and Neal Brown as vice-chairman.
Gardiner voted against the motion made by Ben Ramsey. Board member John Williams seconded the motion. Members Bo Garrison and Neal Brown voted in favor of the motion.
In a unanimous vote at Tuesday’s monthly Banks County Board of Education meeting, the board approved one furlough day for classified personnel. Superintendent Chris Erwin advised the board one furlough day for classified personnel is being recommended right now.
“If we have any more inclement weather, this could go up to three,” Erwin said.
why are the bus drivers still able to take their buses home with them, thats costing us the taxes payers money, not all drivers live on their route and besides we have to drive to and from work too, also they have a bus truck a shop manager drive to and from home he drive his grandkid to school, lunchand ect. is that far.....we could save money that way....
Save money? Why on earth would the school board want to do this, when all they have to do is RAISE TAXES!! Elections are acoming, so let Gardiner have his throne, but when you have a ballot in your hands, VOTE HIM OUT!!! or sit idly by while he bankrupts you and your farms.
your right, the board needs a new look they all been in there far to long, their doing what the superintdent wants instead what is best for are kids.his got our school in this mess, it has not been that long ago he put in for a job in another county(that has to tell board something)I say get rid of all of them. start over fresh.....
I fully agree. This is the worst our schools have ever been.Erwin is school superintendent this means(he works for the people of the Board of Education) and he LEADS THE BOARD MEETINGS for the Board of Education. Is he signing his own paycheck???? Teen pregnancy is up,drop-out rate is up.Test scores are DOWN,Taxes are going up.It is time to start over if we want to save our school system.
