Tony’s Tube World is located in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. I grew up going to this area for our family vacations. It is directly across from Ghost Town in the Sky for those of you who use landmarks for directions. It is located right off the main road so you can’t miss it.
Reservations can be made for 1 hour 45 minutes sessions starting at 10 a.m. We made reservations for 2 p.m.
After we got on all of our winter warm clothes, we headed out for Tube World. After Dave gave us the rules, we headed for the “moving carpet.” This was a nice touch. We didn’t have to walk up the mountain. We just held our tubes and rode up the mountain.
Once we got to the top, we chose from five lines. The lines moved very quickly, a little too quickly as I was a little nervous! I looked around and gained some confidence as I noticed there were some senior citizens and five year olds waiting in line. I figured if they could do it I could!
Once it was my turn, I jumped on my tube and headed down. Wahoo!!! It was more fun that I expected. My son and husband came down after me. We enjoyed our almost two hours of snow tubing. We had plenty of time to tube the mountain numerous times.
The staff is friendly and keep the lines moving. There is also a photographer who climbs the hill and takes photos for you to purchase, if you like.
For the little ones, there is a bunny slope for kids 2-4 years old. They can tube with the help of a parent.
There is an observation area for those in the family who chose not to tube. Snacks and beverages are also available.
It is worth the trip whether you do a day trip or a weekend in the mountains. The whole family will enjoy their time at Tube World. It’s perfect for a family outing and brings back memories of childhood sledding.
