The Banks County Public Safety Advisory Board will forward the names of its top three candidates for the fire chief position to the board of commissioners next week.
The board reviewed the resumes of the 12 applicants and selected its top candidates to interview. Gregory Wainwright, Steven Bowles and interim director Jeffery Taylor were interviewed last week by the public safety board. The board will present its list to the BOC when it meets at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Annex Building.
The BOC does not have to abide by the recommendations of the committee, which only serves in an advisory capacity. The BOC can select its own top candidates to be interviewed or hire someone without conducting interviews.
The 12 applicants for the fire chief position were: Stephen Bowles, Chace Bramlett, Gary Clark, Richard Crowder, James Fuller II, Johnny Irvin, Andy Kitchens, Roger Pace, William Rabbitt, Jeffrey Taylor, Gregory Wainwright and Stanley Wooten.
Members of the board knew this before interviewing 3 people, but proceeded anyway. Politics as usual in Banks County!
The enertainment value is priceless. It is too important to remain a punchline.
