The Banks County Public Safety Advisory Board will forward the names of its top three candidates for the fire chief position to the board of commissioners next week.
The board reviewed the resumes of the 12 applicants and selected its top candidates to interview. Gregory Wainwright, Steven Bowles and interim director Jeffery Taylor were interviewed last week by the public safety board. The board will present its list to the BOC when it meets at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Annex Building.
The BOC does not have to abide by the recommendations of the committee, which only serves in an advisory capacity. The BOC can select its own top candidates to be interviewed or hire someone without conducting interviews.
The 12 applicants for the fire chief position were: Stephen Bowles, Chace Bramlett, Gary Clark, Richard Crowder, James Fuller II, Johnny Irvin, Andy Kitchens, Roger Pace, William Rabbitt, Jeffrey Taylor, Gregory Wainwright and Stanley Wooten.
The Public Safety Advisory Board did not review the resumes of all 12 applicants. Some applicants were not allowed to turn in resumes, certifications, or qualifications. Others were allowed to turn all relevant information in.
Members of the board knew this before interviewing 3 people, but proceeded anyway. Politics as usual in Banks County!
Fire Chief of Banks County changes bout as often as I change shirts. Why not hire a professional, who knows how to work with both paid and volunteers? I know several who either didn't know or chose to not put their repution in jepordy.
The enertainment value is priceless. It is too important to remain a punchline.
