Only two citizens had questions about the budget at a hearing held Tuesday night by the Banks County Board of Commissioners. The BOC is set to approve the proposed $12.6 million budget when it meets at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Annex Building.
At the budget hearing this one, one county resident asked for details on how the $295,123 allocated for the recreation department is spent, while another man asked about planned computer purchases.
The $12.6 million budget is down $800,000 over the current budget, according to finance director Randy Failyer. He added that the budget includes no raises and cuts were made from most of the 43 county departments.
“There are 43 departments and most of them made some cuts,” he said.
Failyer pointed out that in the past two years, the budget has been cut by $2 million.
The budget is available for review in the commissioner's office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Oh wait he told my family he was reducing the elderly's school tax by 20% his first year and doing away with it completely in two years.
I cannot wait to see who picks up the tab for this?
Maybe our kids can surfice with sticks and shirt rocks and visitors can continue to poke fun of the rediculous county of Banks.
What an awesome group of backwards leaders we have.
