BOC interviews top three candidates for recreation director

The Banks County Board of Commissioners interviewed its top three candidates, Phillip Cronic, Ben Dillard and Jerry Loftice, during a closed-door personnel meeting Tuesday night that took approximately one hour.

The three candidates were called in one at a time and interviewed by the five-members of the BOC.

No action was taken by the BOC when the meeting was reopened to the public.

At a BOC meeting last week, human resources director Judy Greer reported that the recreation board had named its top candidates for the recreation director post as follows: Phillip Cronic, Blake Crumley, Joe Gailey and Tyler Culberson. The recreation board members did not interview the candidates and based their recommendation on the applications only, as they had been instructed to do by the BOC.

The recreation department board is appointed by the BOC and serves as a recommending authority only and is not under the authority of the personnel/human resources department.

i see the commissioners didnt take the rec boards recommendation. why ask the rec board to make a recommendation if they are not going to use it. out of the 4 the rec board gave commissioners only one of them was interviewed. WHATS UP WITH THAT!!!!!!!

Why are the commissioners considering Cronic for the position that he resigned from recently? He's a great person but that does not make him qualified to do the job of rec. director. In my opinion, he has already had his chance to improve the rec. dept. but failed. This county needs someone new with fresh ideas that is not afraid of change and hard work. And if you are one of those Banks County Citizens that think there is nothing wrong with our rec. dept., take a drive to any surrounding county and see how poor ours is. It's embarrassing!

of course those rec dept are good. they get money from a sales tax. what do banks county rec get nothing. They were suppose to get $125,000 from the last sales tax that went for the annex. where is that money. i know we are in a down time but how the heck did they get the money to pay for that. Also if u look at the budgets for those rec dept they are 3 or 4 times more than banks county. their budget gets the knife but the police dept's dont.

I think Cronic did a good job in the rec dept and should get the job. I don't think we need another Crumley on the county payroll, if he does get it we know it's good ole boy politics at work.

It really does not matter who is choosen. Once Reece takes office he will chain and lock the doors on the rec department like he did at the horse arena.
