It was a good night for the Banks County Lady Leopards last Thursday as the girls added their second sub-region win after a 5 inning game over East Hall. The East Hall Vikings remain winless after Banks County took the victory 10-2.
With their eighth overall win under their belts, the Lady Leopards have only seven more sub-region games before the region tournament. Currently, Banks County (2-1, 8-3) is the number two team in 8A-AA, trailing Union County (3-0, 9-1-1) and leading Fannin County (2-1, 5-2).
On the other side of the region in 8B-AA, North Oconee (5-0, 9-3) leads the way over Jackson County (4-0, 5-0-2) and Jefferson (4-1, 10-5-1).
Coming up for Banks County is a trip to Tiger as the Lady Leopards take on the Rabun County Wildcats. Rabun County is 1-4 overall and 0-3 in region play. Banks County is on the road Thursday to face the Wildcats at 5:55 p.m.
The Lady Leopards lead 6-2 in the series over Rabun County, winning last season’s games 5-4 and 12-0.
Also ahead this week for the ladies is a trip to the Evan Invitational in Augusta.
In round one on Friday, Banks County is scheduled to face Woodland and Cross Creek. Woodland, a AAAA team out of Stockbridge, is 2-6 this season while Cross Creek, a AAA team in Augusta is 7-2.
The invitational is Friday and Saturday, start times were unavailable at press time.
