Arlene Ivey named county personnel officer

Arlene Ivey was hired as the personnel officer for Banks County Tuesday night in a unanimous vote of the board of commissioners.

Earlier, the BOC interviewed the top five candidates for the position.

Ivey, a resident of Banks County, previously was the vice president of administration and administrative assistant for The Fudgery Inc. in Gainesville.
The BOC voted to hire Ivey after a 15-minute closed meeting to discuss personnel. After the closed-door session, the BOC also voted to fill a part-time nutrition position at the senior citizen’s center.

In other business Tuesday night, the BOC:

•approved the annual fire service contracts with Tate’s Creek and the City of Baldwin.

•approved a request from Brad Cook to hold a one-day auction at The Pottery on Sept. 17.

•agreed to hold off on approval of a contract to update the 911 maps with GIS data. Action on this will be taken after the company recommended to do the work completes a project for the county that has been on-going for 14 months.
