A woman was shot in the leg Saturday night in downtown Homer at a residence behind city hall.
The shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m., during the same time the annual Holiday Festival was under way in the downtown Homer area.
The Banks County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an aggravated assault at a York Street, Homer, residence. A female received a gunshot wound to her leg.
No arrests have been made. Sheriff Charles Chapman said the woman “gave several stories.” The woman was treated and released from an area hospital.

Was at festival during all of the excitement. Was disappointed that I did not see a single law enforcement officer. Rumors floating all over the festival that there had been gunfire and the gunman was still at large. Did not feel very safe. Gathered my children and went home. Am sorry that my family was not able to enjoy a relaxing evening at the festival. Did not expect this in Homer.

I saw tons of law enforcement as they were on that scene a.s.a.p... In such a manner, they contained the situation very rapidly and no other ppl at the festival was in danger nor affected :) Proud of how far Banks County has come and again look forward to the festival next year!!!

Didn't expect this in Homer?? You must not live around here. And my daughter was at the concert when this occured, and she said she never felt unsafe at all, because there were police everywhere. People do stupid stuff, it had nothing to do with the festival, it just happened to be in the area.

There was officers right across the street from the concert but it is sad that people have to do crazy stuff and yes rumors was going crazy which really aggervated me how people start telling things when they dont even know really what is going on?
