A consultant presented plans to the Banks County Planning Commission last week that included proposed changes to the Banks Crossing area, including reduced speed limits.
Consultants from Tunnell, Spangler, Walsh and Associates presented the plan to county officials. There were several transportation recommendations. Adding an optional left turn lane onto Tanger Boulevard was suggested. Requiring rear parcel access roads for new developments was highlighted. Extending sidewalks to improve pedestrian safety was also seen as important. Also, reducing the speed limit in the Banks Crossing area was recommended.
Infrastructure improvements for the Banks Crossing area included the establishment of utility service agreements and utility line relocation and burial.

first point of action at Banks Crossing should be the easiest and least expenses: clean the area. grass is overgrown and lots of trash on the roadside. gives bad impression of area. why spend all that money on sidewalks and landscaping then not maintain it.

The least expensive solution is to just get rid of the interstate property. Let Jackson County have it, they already provide all the utilities down there anyway and Banks County pays a premium to them to do that. Let Banks County get back to farming and a more calm and rural life.

I'm in agreement with you. Banks County does pay out the nose, and this is due to the idiots running the county when it was developed (and even now for that matter). I'll even lay a wager that the people of Banks will vote down alcohol sales on Sunday. Lord help me, did I just commit to gambling and alcohol, Help me preacher, I'm headed to flames!!
