For the fourth year in a row, the Banks County Board of Commissioners has kept the millage rate at 8.979 mills.
At the Sept. 10 meeting, the BOC unanimously agreed to again set the millage rate at 8.979 mills.
While the millage rate is the same, the county will be collecting 1.78 percent less in taxes ($84,758) due to a decrease in the tax digest.
In other business at the Sept. 10 meeting, the BOC:
•agreed to spend $21,558 for public utilities system maintenance. This will include removing a four-foot fence and installing a six-foot fence, removing two trees, killing and removing weeds on the dam, repairs and replacements and equipment. The money will come from the special purpose local option sales tax fund.
•approved the annual fire contract with Tates Creek and Baldwin.
