Through the joint efforts of the Banks County Sheriff’s Office and the Cornelia Police Department, Jeffery David Arnold was located at a residence inside the city limits of Cornelia.
Arnold, 40, wanted by Banks County authorities for allegedly threatening a woman at her residence Sunday night is now in jail, said Carissa McFaddin, Deputy Sheriff, Banks County Sheriff's Office OPS/PIO.
Banks County deputies responded to a residence on Shady Grove Road in reference to possible threats made to the complainant. When deputies arrived, they were advised of an on-going issue involving both the suspect and complainant.
After arriving home at approximately 9:10 p.m. on Sunday, the female complainant observed Arnold running from the inside of the residence towards the front yard. It was reported that Arnold began screaming at the complainant and began striking a vehicle on the property. The complainant advised the suspect to leave several times at which he would not.
Arnold escaped the scene on foot prior to deputies' arrival at approximately 9:35 p.m.
Banks County deputies and a Banks County K-9 unit were able to track Arnold's steps to an area away from the scene where deputies believe the subject left in a vehicle.
A warrant has been secured for burglary in the first degree. Arnold was considered armed. Witnesses who observed Arnold flee from the scene advised that he was armed with an assault rifle.
