Banks County has located and repaired the water break and utilities officials are now in the process of slowly returning water to the lines to begin filling the tanks.
Steve Reece, Public Utilities Director, would like to assure all citizens that they are working diligently to repair the system. He cautions that citizens should not use large amounts of water while water levels are being regained and he reminds to not use the water for any drinking or food preparation until they have clearance from EPD to lift the boiled water advisory.
All Banks County water customers north of Interstate 85 (including the City of Homer) should follow boiled water advisories that are issued until cancellation is issued by Banks County Utilities following EPD Direction. Mr. Reece hopes to have the tanks full by Monday and the required testing to EPD once the tanks are full on Monday. Following the direction of EPD after the return of clear tests; Mr. Reece will announce the end of the advisory which is anticipated to be Wednesday or Thursday if all goes well.
