Elected officials who have served as members of the Banks County Board of Commissioners, as well as appointed county clerks, were recognized at a special tribute on Sunday at the Courthouse Annex in Homer.
Those who have served the county since 1917 were recognized, with many of the former commissioners and clerks attending the event. Family members of some of those who served also attended.
Three plaques listing the names of those who served — BOC chairman, commissioners and county clerks — are now on display at the annex, in the entryway into the meeting room. The name and dates of service for each commissioner and chairman are listed on the “Wall of Service” plaques. Past county clerks are recognized on a “County Clerk Wall of Service.”
Banks County Board of Commissioners chairman Jimmy Hooper spoke at the Commissioners Day celebration held Sunday at the Courthouse Annex in Homer. Those sitting at the front of the meeting room included: commissioners David Duckett and Danny Maxwell and county clerk Jenni Gailey, commissioner Sammy Reece and commissioner Charles Turk.
