Lula denies proposed subdivision

At an earlier public hearing, area residents spoke in opposition to the request. Among the reasons given by the citizens were traffic concerns and agriculture in the area.

Butler-Murphy LLC was seeking an annexation and rezoning for a planned unit development on 43.126 acres on Railroad Avenue/West County Line Road.

Mayor Milton Turner told those in attendance representing Butler-Murphy LLC that the city manager would deliver to them the list of reasons for denial of this application within the next seven working days.

A representative of Butler-Murphy, LLC said they have already filed their constitutional objections to the city on this decision. When this is done, it often means that the applicant plans to file a lawsuit against the city.
