Several local artists turned out on the evening of March 24 to discuss forming a Banks County artist guild.
The local artists met with Banks County Board of Commissioners Chairman Jimmy Hooper to discuss issues related to the new group.
Four members of the group agreed to serve on an art council to get the guild started and recruit new members. The four are: Scotty Peppers, Bonnie McCarty, Cherie Smith and Hannah White.
City clerk Jenni Gailey advised the group she sent out over 100 emails and letters to local artists notifying them of the Tuesday’s meeting.
Those attending the initial meeting offered a variety of artwork, including: folk art, paintings on all types of material, including rocks, murals, photography and black light chalk art.
Hooper, who said he had a vision for an art gallery in Banks County, told the group that there was room in the Banks County Courthouse on the second floor for artwork to be displayed.
