Matthew Allen Wyrick, 23, pled guilty Wednesday, May 14, in Banks County Superior Court on two charges of child molestation stemming from an incident in 2006 involving two county teenagers.
Soccer coach pleads guilty to child molestation
At the time of the incidents, Wyrick was a coach with the North Georgia Soccer Association where he coached one of the victims.
Wyrick was sentenced to serve eight years in jail and given 13 years probation. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victims or any members of their families and to comply with all sex offender conditions. These conditions include being prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with any person under the age of 18.
Wyrick was ordered to surrender to authorities on Monday, May 19, to begin serving his sentence.
District attorney Rick Bridgeman prosecuted the case.
