Items from my political notebook as the most important election in decades draws closer:
•If you want to know what type of man John McCain really is then all you have to do is look at a news clip from a recent campaign rally.
McCain was listening to the concerns of a supporter when the Republican nominee declared enough is enough. A woman in attendance was carrying on about how she was afraid of Obama being elected president. Fair enough.
She continued, however, to go right over the edge saying things which were simply not true and declared that Obama was an “Arab.”
At this point, McCain shook his head negatively, took the microphone back and said, “No, ma’am.”
McCain said while he disagrees with the Democratic nominee on issues, Obama is a good man. McCain deserves credit for drawing a line and stopping the woman from continuing when she was telling an
outright falsehood. He could have stood there and smiled and allowed her to continue.
However, McCain is honest. He is, as I have said in this space, a hero. He doesn’t have to drop to that level, even if some of the people who are going to vote for him do. It’s obvious this woman has been brainwashed by too much conservative talk radio and/or FOX News.
This incident only scratches the surface, however. At other McCain rallies in recent days, extremist supporters have been recorded yelling about Obama phrases like “KILL HIM!” and “TRAITOR” and “OFF
WITH HIS HEAD!”
Amazing, truly amazing and disturbing.
•Most political observers agreed the second presidential debate recently was not even worth watching. Even the ultra conservative leaning Drudge Report website headline screamed: “BORING” the following day.
One has to wonder what voters’ reaction would be if other candidates were allowed to participate Libertarian candidate Bob Barr continues to be excluded along with independent candidate Ralph Nader and Constitution Party nominee Chuck Baldwin. Green Party candidate Cynthia McKinney has also been denied access to the debates.
Until voters demand more, however, we will continue to receive more of the same. I guess if you are having trouble sleeping at night the current debate format is a great way to fade away, no prescription needed.
•On the home front, Democratic candidate Jim Martin is making a strong run against Republican Saxy Chambliss in the race for U.S. Senate.
On paper, it’s easy to see why Martin is doing well. The economy is in the tank, for several weeks drivers had trouble finding gas to put in their cars and our state’s Republican governor bailed out of the country.
Martin is a decorated Vietnam Veteran while Chambliss did not serve in the military. Chambliss has done nothing but been a rubber stamp for the failed policies of President Bush.
The race is there for the taking. All of this is on paper, however. Martin still has one major handicap to overcome. He has the initial “D” by his name on the ballot, as in Democrat.
You see, a majority of Georgia voters have been brainwashed into thinking they can’t vote for one. What a shame.

"COUNTRY FIRST"
I like the comment you said "manipulator of fact and reality".......gee, that's what we have had for the last 8 years.....imagine that....
Go Barack!!!!
I can't wait to see all of your expressions on November 5th....
If you can seriously vote for Obama then I dont think you should have the right to call yourself an American.
Fox News is the only news agency that is fair and balanced while others are totally in the tank for the Obama campaign. McCain is a hero and does speak the truth while Obama is a talking point or puppet for Social change with no expeirence of leading anything. I understand that what I say won't change anyone's mind about this election but when you vote in Nov. just remember you get what vote for. I will be proud of my vote. Will You?

My what a bigot you are.....do you even attend church???
I used to vote pretty much Independently (voting for the person, not the party).. The last 6 months have really opened my eyes up. There is no way I could vote for a Republican in any contest for a long time to come.. It seems the Republicans have forgotten the values they once stood for.....All this Obama is a muslim crap.....and the hatred coming from McCain's followers......what racist, bigots the Republican Party now has....I just can't be a part of that.....please change your ways.
1. He has much more experience. We don't need a novice in the white house when radical muslims are so close to nuclear technology.
2. He has better fiscal sense in a recession. Obama's "Robin Hood" philosophy of taxing the rich to give to the poor never works. Tax Exxon Mobil? Exxon Mobil will get that tax revenue by raising gas prices. Who ends up paying for it? You and me.
3. McCain has a better health plan. Universal health care is a disaster in waiting. Ask Australia.
4. McCain respects human life. Seeing the 20-week ultrasound of my daughter left no doubt that she was alive well before she was born. Anyone who would prefer "choice" over the sanctity of lives such as hers baffles me to this day.
5. McCain reaches across the aisle to work in a bipartisan manner. Obama has voted with the Democratic party 97% of the time. We don't need someone in the oval office that far to the left.
Black doesn't bother me(though Obama is half-black, this never seems to be mentioned). Inexperienced, liberal, and lack of respect for human life bothers me.
The choice is clear to me.
GO McCain
