The Christmas season will arrive in full force over the weekend with holiday events planned in Homer, Maysville and Baldwin.
The first annual Christmas Bazaar planned by the Banks County Chamber of Commerce will be held on Friday, December 5, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, December 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A Christmas parade starts at noon on Saturday.
“We anticipate the town square to be lined with children and adults who have come out in the chilly weather to celebrate the holiday season,” said chamber director Tara Fulcher. “We look forward to many local businesses, clubs, marching units and organizations to participate in the parade. We are also asking parade participants to collect canned goods for the local food bank, Generous Hearts, which will enable them to feed people who were in need over the holiday season. Shoppers can enjoy the many arts and crafts booths available along with holiday music and carols.”
The lighting of the Christmas tree will also take place at dark in front of the historical courthouse.
“This is an evening to bundle up the kids and come celebrate the holiday season with the entire community,” Fulcher said. “This event is planned so the community can gather together for visiting old friends, making new friends, drinking hot chocolate, watching the parade, enjoying the lights, singing carols, strolling from booth to booth doing your Christmas shopping. This is to be an exciting holiday event filled with community spirit for all ages.”
Chamber leaders are seeking volunteers to assist with the parade. Contact the Chamber office at 706-677-2108 for more information or for vendor applications.
