The Banks County Planning Commission recommended approval Tuesday night for a request from Dr. Lionel Meadows to locate a doctor's office in the former Regions Bank building at Banks Crossing.
The planners recommended approval for a conditional use permit for Dr. Meadows for this project. The recommendation will go to the Banks County Board of Commission for action when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the courthouse annex.
Dr. Meadows' wife, Kathy, presented the request her husband has a practice in Stephens County. She said they decided to locate at Banks Crossing because it is a "growing, thriving area."
In other business at Tuesday's meeting, the planners recommended approval of the following requests:
•Charles and Brenda Nix for a variance for setbacks from poultry houses for newly drawn property lines at 594 Henderson Road.
•Kyonng Burgos for a conditional use permit to locate an acupuncture clinic at a new shopping center on Hwy. 441 at Banks Crossing.
•an amendment to the ordinance on litter control to require that any litter transported through the county be in a covered vehicle.
These recommendations will also be considered by the BOC when it meets on Tuesday.
In other business at this week's planning commission meeting, Keith Segars was named chairman of the group for this year. Alicia Andrews was named vice chairman.
