The Banks County High School basketball teams mark the return to the courts this week.
The Leopards returned in the boys only game on Wednesday against Riverside Military Academy. Banks hosted Riverside for the first game of 2009. Results were unavailable at press time, from Wednesday’s game.
This Friday, Jan. 9, Banks County travels to Union County where the Lady Leopards will mark their return in the first game starting at 7 p.m. with the boys to follow.
The Lady Leopards are hoping to pull together and start winning some games after the rocky start to the season where the team went 5-7.
Union County has defeated the Lady Leopards in the past four meetings between the schools and are currently 7-3 for the season. Banks County is hopeful that after the downtime from the holidays, the ladies will be well rested and ready to roll over the Union County Lady Panthers Friday night.
The Leopards play Union County following the girls game. Banks County’s boys won their last meeting against Union County by nearly 30 points. Coach Ruth and the Banks County boys will have to play hard against their opponents as Union County will be looking for some payback.
Friday’s game at Union County is scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m.
Next Tuesday, Jan. 13, Banks travels to Lexington where the Lady Leopards and Leopards face region opponent Oglethorpe County. The Jan. 13 tip-off is at 6 p.m. for the ladies with the boys to follow.
