Banks County leaders are concerned that the BJC Medical Authority has declined to appoint one of the three nominees they suggested to represent the county on the hospital board.
At the BOC meeting Tuesday night, commissioners learned the county has been asked to submit three more names since the three submitted earlier were declined. The BOC believes the county should be allowed to select who they want to serve on the board without the nominees being rejected.
The BOC did not take action to appoint three more nominees and instead agreed to ask hospital authority chairman Charles Blair to attend the next commission meeting to discuss the matter.
“I don’t like the idea that we put money into that hospital and they decline the three names we send,” BOC chairman Milton Dalton said.
The three names submitted by Banks County were: Danny Maxwell, Michael Williams and Kenneth Flint.
OTHER APPOINTMENTS
In other appointments Tuesday night, the BOC unanimously approved the following:
•reappointing Albert Ward and Sammy Reece to another four-year term on the Banks County Planning Commission.
•appointing Bobby Lewallen and Milton Dalton to serve a four-year term on the Joint Development Authority.
•appointing Michael Williams, Jan Parks and Martha Crane to serve a three-year term on the recreation advisory board.
•appointing Leslie George and Rickey Cain to serve a one-year term on the Chestatee Chattahoochee RC & D.
