Development authority to assist doctor in locating at Banks Crossing

Banks County Administrative Officer Angela Sheppard said at Wednesday’s meeting, Feb. 18, that she attended a meeting with Katherine Meadows, Dr. Meadows wife, and a representative from the Regional Development Commission a couple of week ago.
“We took a look at their facility,” Sheppard said.

Dr. Meadows currently has an office in Clarkesville.

Mrs. Meadows said they are looking for some new equipment. Sheppard said the only funding to help them with this is a low interest Appalachian Regional Commission loan. The information and applications were left with Mrs. Meadows, Sheppard said.

“There is a $100 application fee for the loan and I thought it might be a good suggestion on our part if we paid the $100 for them,” Sheppard said.

The DA is working to help attract businesses to Banks County. The $100 will come out of the development authority fund, members agreed.

“We don’t have any information back on the loan at this time,” Sheppard said. “There is a process that has to be gone through.:
DA member Scott Ledford asked Sheppard if they discussed the possibility of the business leasing the equipment as opposed to purchasing.
Ledford said, “Leasing is the best way to go and they need to be talked with about this.”

Ledford said he could get a contact for them on leasing the equipment.
