CLARKESVILLE – Thomas E. “Tommy” Marcus, 69, died Thursday, March 5, 2009, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born on January 20, 1940, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late George G. and Drucilla Heaton Marcus. He was retired from Scovill Manufacturing with 39 ½ years of service, and was a cabinetry graduate of North Georgia Technical Institute. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. Mr. Marcus was preceded in death by brothers, Junior Marcus and Houston Marcus; and a sister, Maebelle Marcus.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Whitfield Marcus, Clarkesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Chantay and Greg Beck, Mt. Airy, Tanoa and Kenneth Turner, Alto, and Shanda and Steve Dowdy, Homer; sister, Mary Alice Ivester, Turnerville; brothers and sisters-in-law, G.W. and Geraldine Marcus, Demorest, Charlie and Hazel Marcus, Cornelia, Claude and Jean Marcus, J.C. and Kathy Marcus and James and Annie Marcus, all of Clarkesville; eight grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 8, at Whitfield Funeral Home with the Rev. Jan Devereaux officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
