CORNELIA – Flora Floyce Brock Maness, 77, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, following a brief illness.
Born in Banks County on May 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Condus and Mandy Vine Maxwell Brock. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and enjoyed flower gardening and crocheting. She was employed with Carwood Manufacturing for several years and also served as a cook for several local restaurants. Mrs. Maness preceded in death by a son, Alton Maness; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Edison Maness, Cornelia; daughters and son-in-law, Betty Ann and Phillip Gaines, Mt. Airy, Janet Maness, Demorest; sons and daughters-in-law, Everett and Beth Maness, Dahlonega, Amiel and Kathy Maness, Lexington, S.C., and Jimmy and Sandra Maness, Clarkesville; son, Loren Maness, Cornelia; sisters, Florence Payne, Baldwin, Emily Simmons, Banks County, and Eula Cheek, Toccoa; brother, Doyle Brock, Gastonia, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 14, at Mountain View Baptist Church with the Revs. Luther Williams and Jimmy Maness officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, was in charge of arrangements.
