Banks County Sheriff Charles Chapman said on Monday a deputy responding to an alarm call at Northeast Georgia Bank around 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, found an automatic teller machine (ATM) in the driveway to the bank.

The Banks County Board of Commissioners began a review of the proposed budget for 2010 at a called meeting on April 16. A final budget figure has not been determined but it is projected that the total will be down seven to eight percent over the current budget.

A 12-year-old Banks County girl was killed Friday afternoon in a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) accident on West Coker Road, Alto. A 15-year-old male passenger on the UTV was injured in the accident.
