A South Carolina man was arrested on drug charges Tuesday afternoon, May 5, following a traffic stop by a Banks County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
Banks County Sheriff Charles Chapman said a BCSO deputy stopped a 1999 Pontiac driven by Roscoe Emil White, 27, 310 Carr Road, Piedmont, S.C., for weaving over the roadway.
The deputy had White out of the vehicle but he then got back in the car and tried to leave, Chapman said.

Banks County High School is getting ready for graduation. This year’s graduating class will be the largest graduating class from the high school. Over 170 students are candidates for graduation set for 8 p.m. on Friday, May 29, at the BCHS Leopard Stadium.

A man was run over by a train around 9:30 p.m. Monday night in Alto in the area of Garland White Road near Lee Arrendale State Prison.
Rick Salemi, Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Chief Investigator, said it is unclear at this time if the man was lying on the tracks at the time of the accident or walking on the tracks. [Full Story »]
The Lula City Council held meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 9 and 10, to continue work on the city's proposed zoning ordinances. City leaders are working to establish ordinances to deal with new development in the city. [Full Story »]
The Lula City Council has denied a developer’s request to locate a subdivision in the city. No reason for the denial was given at the Aug. 21 meeting but city leaders told the developer a written list of the reasons would be given in the next seven days.
