Following campaigns has been something I have enjoyed as long as I can remember.

As a political junkie, I always looked forward to campaign season. I’ve long been fascinated by the process. To me, there’s nothing like driving from here to there and seeing campaign signs for various candidates seeking a particular office. I admit I often look at the back windows and bumpers of vehicles to see if they display the name of a candidate.

“A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing and the lawn mower is broken.”

It’s here. I know summer officially doesn't arrive for a couple more weeks, but for me, summer always begins with the start of June.

So it came to pass on Monday that summer was here, at least for me. And what a day it was. The sun was shining bright. We were able to enjoy that blue Georgia sky and for a little while at least, all seemed right with the world.

I tried searching for a clever quote to put at the beginning of this column but I simply couldn’t find the right one.

Sometimes it’s hard to find the right phrase to sum up what you are saying — especially when those words were spoken by someone else. So I decided for this column I would skip the opening quote I use at times and simply let the words flow from my pen, or keyboard as it were.

I’ve always loved a good conspiracy theory.

One of my favorite radio shows in fact is the overnight talk show “Coast to Coast AM” which on any given night features topics ranging from UFOs, bigfoot, the true story of 9-11, the JFK assassination, colonies on the moon and the like.
