Last week was a rough one for the diamond Leopards. Banks County’s baseball team took three on the chin against three very tough region opponents, leaving the Leopards with an 8-8 record entering into the last week of play. Banks County’s netters are heading to the region tournament at North Oconee. The tennis teams defeated Walnut Grove to make it through into the region tournament as the third seed. The Banks County Park and Recreation Department’s opening day ceremonies are this Saturday, April 3. The BCPRD kicks off the baseball and softball season at 10 a.m. with a parade from the Banks County Elementary School to the number one ball field along Thompson Street. Banks County’s diamond Leopards improved to an 8-5 record this past week as the teams picked up a doubleheader win over Rabun County. It took a few weeks into the season, but the Banks County boys’ soccer team has finally gotten their legs under them and added some wins. With the team being off this week for spring break, the Leopards return on April 6, to make up the Stephens County match from earlier in March.
