A work crew clearing land leased by a hunting club on Hwy. 59 found suspected marijuana. The Banks County Sheriff’s Office was called in and a large amount of marijuana was found growing at the site.

A long line of fire trucks and other emergency service vehicles from across North Georgia drove through Homer Tuesday afternoon in a funeral procession for Banks County coroner Henry Galloway. Galloway, 47, died after an extended illness. He was serving his second term as county coroner and had served on the Homer Fire Department for 32 years.

The Banks County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary call early Friday morning at Lula Country Store, Highway 51 South, Lula. According to the report, a white male threw two large blocks of wood through the front door to gain entry into the store. Once inside, the offender stole 17 packs of cigarettes.
