The Banks County Development Authority has purchased two lots in the Industrial Park.
At the monthly meeting on Jan. 22, Banks County Planner Brad Day reported that the sales agreements had been executed to purchase two lots in the Industrial Park – parcels B66-41 A&B – for a total of $200,000.
Plans for the property have not been disclosed.

Ledford named development authority chairman
Scott Ledford was elected as chairman of the Banks County Development Authority on Wednesday, March 23.
Bill Griffin was selected to serve as vice chairman and Jonathan Bennett was chosen as treasurer.
Chairman Jack Banks told the authority that he did not plan to serve another term. Banks’ term expires in February of 2012.

Top three candidates for community developer position named
Following a 17-minute closed session Wednesday morning, the Banks County Development Authority released the names of the three finalists for the newly-created Banks County Community Developer position.
The three finalists are Dan Gasaway, Homer, Gerard “Pepe” Cummings, Jefferson, and Bradley Day, Dawsonville.
No time frame was given on when a final decision would be made. A salary range also has not been released.
The Development Authority and board of commissioners have held several recent closed meetings to discuss personnel with this issue apparently being a topic of discussion. Monday morning, the two boards met in closed session for approximately one-and-one-half hour meeting to discuss personnel, as well as land acquisition. When the meeting was re-opened to the public BOC, chairman Milton Dalton stated there was no action to report. The development authority did not have a quorum for that meeting.

Development authority to assist doctor in locating at Banks Crossing
The Banks County Development Authority agreed in a meeting last week to spend $100 to pay for the loan application fee for Dr. Lionel Meadows, who plans to open an obstetrics, gynecology and plastic surgery practice at Banks Crossing. Dr. Meadows is looking to locate in the old Regions Bank building.

Development Authority looking at ways to attract business
The Banks County Development Authority is looking at ways to attract new business to the county and possibly hiring a part-time person to oversee this effort is one of the options being discussed.
