Pending matters in Homer will have to wait another month as the city council was unable to take action during Tuesday’s meeting because of the lack of a quorum. The council members did choose to go ahead and hear from two speakers present at the meeting.

The mayor’s seat and all four of the Homer City Council members are up for re-election this year.
At the monthly meeting on Tuesday night, the council set the qualifying fees and other details for the election.

The Homer City Council approved a bid of $39,890 from Farr Electric, Gainesville, for labor and materials for electrical work on the new fire station at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

Homer mayor charged with DUI

Homer Mayor Doug Cheek was charged with DUI Wednesday, Aug. 13, in Franklin County. Cheek, who was charged by the Georgia State Patrol, was also cited for headlight violation. He was booked into the Franklin County Jail.
